When I started BellaSocial in 2019, I was marketing to businesses across a variety of industries. But by May 2020 (officially six years ago!), I had niched down into running medical weight loss clinics and medspa Meta ads specifically.
In the last six years, I’ve seen firsthand, and gained some hardwon wisdom in, what leads medspas to consistently succeed with their Facebook and Instagram ads. These are things I’ve repeated again and again on my Instagram, especially this post.
One of my medspa clients, who has been with me on this entire journey, has consistently seen $30k months because she’s made these six essential keys her reality. She’s even been able to grow her practice and open a second location!
The six essential keys outlined below are the foundation for your aesthetics practice’s and medspa’s success in Meta ads. It’s important to understand these before you even run ads. Or, if you’re currently running ads, or struggling with whether to run ads or not, this one is for you.
The first key? The practices that get the best results are the ones that are the most visible. They are the ones that stay consistent.
What does this look like in reality? These are the aesthetics practices, medspas and medical weight loss clinics that stay consistent with their digital (and traditional) marketing and consistent with their online visibility.
These practices share consistent content across their channels and trust the process that paid and organic work together to bolster their visibility. This consistent visibility always build that trust with potential and current clients. Even if they’re small practices, which they often are, these are the practices getting their patients the best results – and they showcase that online every chance they get!
The second? While new leads are important, aesthetics and medical weight loss practices are in the maintenance business.
What does that mean? A medical spa that keeps their patients happy – that continues to build trust time and time again – is one that continues to get results over and over again. These medspas will succeed the most because they are building trust the most with their current clients.
The average lifetime value of current clients is massive year after year. It’s important to invest in them!
While bringing in new leads is essential to grow your business, don’t just focus just on new patients. You need to focus on building trust and maintaining results with your current clientele. That is truly how you’re going to scale.
The third key? If you are making decisions based on emotions, like panic or urgency, and you’re not looking at the data behind the scenes, you’re always going to struggle.
To succeed, you have to focus on the data and what works. Ask yourself some important questions before taking a deep dive into the stats. Which services consistently bring in the most each month? How are people finding you to book treatments? Are there any hiccups in your intake process that patients are concerned about?
Double down on what works, showcase services or aspects of your practice in Meta ads. Then, shift your strategy to see what will work next. You don’t need a new strategy every month. You just need to commit. Commit to a strategy long enough to see it through and see if it garners results for you and your practice.
The fourth? Your mindset and your energy around money affects everything. It affects your ads, your marketing and how you look at your clients. You need to get that right before you run Facebook and Instagram ads for your medspa.
This is something to keep in mind before you even open your practice. What is the best way to approach this? Your mindset around money needs to be one of abundance and not making decisions in scarcity or guided by panic.
Your energy around sales and money is gonna show up in every area of your business. It’s essential to get this right before you do anything else.
The fifth key? Ads are important. Visibility is important, but your follow-up afterwards, is equally, if not MORE important. It should be consistent and intentional.
Your follow-up and your client-focused messaging after a booking needs to be as tightened up as possible. Your team needs to focus on keeping in contact with your clients. That retargeting is where the real money is. If you’re not doing that, you’re leaving money on the table.
The last essential key? Ads are not a magic or quick fix. They are like a 401(k), not an ATM machine. Ads won’t fix your business, but they will amplify it.
If your business is doing really well, and you’re ready to scale, ads are going to amplify what’s working really well. On the flip side of that, if your business is not doing well and you think that ads are going to fix something that’s already broken – they won’t.
You need to fix the foundation first before you even think about putting even one cent into Meta ads. Trust me on this! Do not waste your money running ads for your medspa if you have to fix the foundation, like a broken back-end process or a team that still needs training. If you are struggling with sales, fix it first before launching ads.
