Being in medspa marketing for the last six years, I’ve heard horror stories about what big medspa marketing agencies have put their clients through.
They promise the world, and charge even more, when the reality is they’re not offering practice the services they pay for or deserve. This is something I’ve gone over on Instagram, but l’m here to uncover six of these common secrets big marketing agencies don’t want “the little guys” to know.
The first secret: you don’t need a huge budget. I know these agencies will oftentimes say you need a minimum of $5,000 or $10,000 for ad spend. That’s completely untrue when it comes to running profitable ads.
You can test and start seeing results with much less, like one dollar per engagement campaign or per video view campaign to test creatives. You don’t need a huge budget. You just have to be strategic with your cash.
The second secret: pretty graphics don’t sell. I know it’s tempting to use Canva graphics and make everything look super pretty, but the things that are working right now for successful Instagram ads are face-to-camera videos. They’re authentic, real and truthful. Those are the ones that are building trust with potential clients. Why? Because it feels like they’re talking to a friend.
The third secret: most agencies focus on clicks and impressions, not bookings. Agencies love bragging about clicks, impressions, reach and these other terms that you probably don’t understand, like CPM, CTR, frequency and so forth. What actually actually matters is the answers to these questions – did the clients see, and book from, your ad? Did they call or take action from your ad?
The fourth secret: most agencies recycle ad strategies. A lot of big medspa marketing agencies use cookie cutter campaigns. However, that’s not the best path forward. The most succesful ad strategy is the one that’s customized to your practice and your target market. This means research is required ahead of time, but they likely just don’t want to put in the effort.
The fifth secret: most agencies are going to give you an account rep. A lot of times these big agencies are going to pass you off to someone that you don’t know. A lot of times you’ll have to repeat yourself over and over again to tell this rep your goals, your voice and what you need. If you’re planning to hire a large agency to handle your medspa marketing, you have to be prepared for this treatment and redundancy.
The sixth secret, and big agencies really don’t want you to know this: you can learn to run profitable ads for your business. You just you have to have the right strategy and right ads coach to teach you how to do it.
